A little vacation

Brendan has spent the better part of two weeks with another APS foster family (the Love Family) while we have been on vacation. It went so well, and Brenan, along with the family watching him, had a wonderful time.

The Loves found Brendan to be fairly low key and easy to take care of. Their home has a nice size fenced in backyard. So Brendan would tire himself out playing outside and throw the ball around. He got along wonderfully with their older dog and respected the space of their cat. He enjoyed exploring the back yard and house, but only played with the toys given to him.

Spending time at the Love's homes really shows how well Brendan will do in a home that has a fenced in yard. Having that room to roam will be great for him, allowing him to get his energy out on his own.

We couldn't be happier with how everything went. The Loves were really raving about his behavior and personally, and have offered to watch him again any time we need to leave town. Not that we expected much less. Everyone who meets Brendan just loves him. He truly is the perfect family dog.

Ocean videos

Here are the videos. Enjoy!

The Ocean???

So a few weeks ago, my foster parents took me and my foster sister, Cecelia, to a local creek. we went on a nice walk, and I finally got over my fear of playing around it water. it was so much fun!
Last week, my foster parents woke us up really early (I was not excited about that), and piled us into the car for a long car ride. I slept most of the way. When we got to our destination, my foster parents opened to door and I looked out. It was all blue, everywhere! I think it went on forever! My foster parents told me it was the ocean. I loved playing in the sand. It was so much fun to roll around in. Then we went up to the ocean water. Wow, so much water! And there were bubbles, foam, and shells everywhere. I didn't know what to think. Finally, I followed Cecelia in. Man, was it fun! Although it tasted a little funny. We jumped over the waves, splashed in pools of water, and got to meet lots of people! It wasn't so bad after all. Cecelia and I had so much fun, that we slept the whole ride back home. Check out the pictures and video my foster parents took of our day at the beach.

The parents are back, that mean bath time...

My foster parents were on vacation for a while and left me with a family friend. I got to go to the dog park, sleep on the bed, and run around a whole bunch. The best part... no baths!! I loved it! Unfortunately, when my foster parents got back, they decided I needed a bath. I don't really like baths and really enjoyed not worrying about one while they were away.

My foster mom took pictures of my bath this weekend. I tried to be a good boy even though I hate baths. Needless to say, I was very happy when it was over. My foster mom was happy because she says I smell like flowers. At least I wasn't alone. Cecelia got a bath too... hehe

An afternoon at Umstead Park

My foster parents took me and Cecelia to Umstead State Park this past weekend. It was so much fun. We had a nice hike on a trail. When we got to the bottom, there was a huge creek. Cecelia jumped right in. I was kind of afraid at first, but with some encouragement from m foster parents and watching Cecelia, I decided to go in. In was slow at first, but once I got in, I had a ball! It was so much fun. Cecelia was splashing, dunking her head, and playing with me. I was having so much fun, I tried to pull my foster mom in with us. She got wet and my foster dad that it was really funny. Here are some pics from our trip. I can't wait to go back!

Yummy Cookout!

My foster parents wanted some cookout milkshakes the other night and decided to take me and Cecelia for the car ride. You already know how much I love car rides: the windows down, the breeze in my face. It's great! So we pull up to cookout and I do my usual greeting: head out the window and sniff, tail wagging of course. The people working at cookout loved it, well they loved me actually. They were so nice that they gave me and Cecelia each a chicken nugget with my parents order. How awesome is that! I hope we go back to cookout again soon!

Taking in a little baseball

This past sunday was Bark in the Park at the Durham Bulls stadium. My foster parents took me and boy, it was a lot of fun! I have never been to a baseball game before (I watch them all the time with my foster dad). So this was my first game. There were lots of doggy playmates there, pools to splash in, and yummy treats. We all had a great time. The best part was that the Bulls won! I can't wait to go back next year!

Ice Cubes

It might sound weird, but I love ice cubes. They are such a great treat especially on a hot day after a long walk. They are so refreshing! My foster mom started freezing chicken broth in ice cube trays for me. That makes them even better!

Photos from the APS Walk for the Animals

We all had a wonderful time at the walk this weekend. Brendan loved all the animals and people, and met a bunch of nice folks at the APS adoption tent. Brendan along with his foster dad went up on stage to introduce Brendan to the crowd. He did great! Here is a video of his preformance and some photos from the days festivities. Enjoy!

Ear rubs...Ooo

Well, my foster parents discovered my sweet spot... my ears. All they have to do is rub my ears and I melt like butter and will do just about anything. I can't help it. I love it when they rub my ears. So I know if I am a good boy and do what they tell me to do, I'll get a treat and a nice ear rub. Oh so nice!

They're Back!

Hey everyone,

My foster parents went away for a couple days. So I went to the shelter to spend some time with my friends. It was so nice to see the other dogs and all the wonderful staff at the shelter (they give me lots of treats). Even though it was fun, I was so excited to see my foster parents and sister again. And to get back in the car was so awesome. My foster parents rolled the windows down for me, and you know how much I love that! Check out the photos from when they picked me up.

Now that they are back home, my foster parents have promised to update my blog more often.

Earth Hour 2009

Hey Everyone. We celebrated Earth Hour this past weekend. My foster parents turned off all the lights and power then lit candles for an hour. They said it was to show support for the earth and the environment. I didn't quite understand, but I'm sure it's a good thing if they say so.

Anyway, we sat around for an hour relaxing. After watching the light from the candles flicker along the walls for a while, I finally curled up on the couch with my foster mom and sister. Maybe it was the darkness or chasing the candle light on the walls, but I was tired! I passed right out! Before I knew it, the power was back on and my foster parents were watching tv next to me. Here are some pictures my foster dad took of us during Earth Hour.

Kongs....yummy!!

My foster parents give me and my foster sister lots of treats: some after dinner, some for being good, and some when we are learning something new. Bacon treats, a slice of lunch meat or cheese, I love them all! But my absolute favorite thing in the world: peanut butter filled kongs! I could eat them all day. They are that amazing. You can snack on them all afternoon or night. There really is no better treat.

Adoption event

Hey everyone. What a fun day today was. My foster parents took me to an adoption event at Petsmart. I played with lots of dogs and met so many nice people (they spoiled me with treats all afternoon!) It was great. Hopefully I met my forever family today. If not, I'll just have to keep looking. My foster mom says I can stay as long I need to unless I drive her crazy. I'm trying really hard not to do that :)

One of my favorite parts of going to the adoption events (besides the treats) is the car ride! I love to put my head out the window and smell all the different things. You should try it some time... It's so much fun! My foster mom thought it was funny because my ears were flapping around. She took a video of me in the car today. Hope you enjoy it!

So cute

Most nights, we work in our office. There is a spare bed in the room and the dogs snuggle up and sleep on it while we work. It is so adorable and cute. So I wanted to share some of the pictures we took of them last night. Enjoy!

A good reminder

With the nice weather last week, we decided to take the dogs out for a nice long walk and throw the ball around. Cecelia is very good on and off the leash. She comes over when you call her and never wanders too far. Cecelia was having a great time chasing the ball and Brendan desperately wanted to join. So we deceide to see how he would do off his leash. Since he is good in the house, we thought he would probably behave outside as well. We took his leash off and started throwing the ball around. We were having a great time.

Long story short, something scared Cecelia and she started to run. Brendan followed and the chase ensued. Brendan didn't get far, only across the street, but it was a good reminder. Brendan needs room to run. While he does well in our townhome, he deserves to be in a home with either a back yard or someone who is active and will take him outside to run around often. Brendan is still a puppy (he's only a year old), and wants to play. So if you are interested in our fun little guy, you need to keep in mind the responsibility that comes with getting a dog like Brendan. It is a big commitment, but if you are up to it, the rewards will last a lifetime.

Cute Moment

Hello everyone! Brendan and Cecelia had an adoable moment the other day that I really wanted to share. I was sitting on my chair doing some work on the computer. Brendan and Cecelia were chasing the tennis ball around. Some how it ended up on my lap. So here I am with Cecelia on one side, Brendan on the other going after the ball. Cecelia is smaller then Brendan, and the more she pushed to reach the ball, the more my chair spun away from her. That's when Brendan picked up the ball and put it into Cecelia's mouth. It was so cute! There they got back to the business of playing.

Brendan and Cecelia get along really well. Some times Brendan is a little too much play in him for Cecelia, but that is to be expected with a dog as young as Brendan. Cecelia just lets him know she is not interested in playing. But they play together a lot! Chase the tennis ball, run around on their walks next to each other, and play tug-a-war with the rope toys. They even look at the window together (pictured to the right) and share the doggy bed. It's very cute! Cecelia is enjoying having Brendan around. In fact, Brendan's friendly personality has helped Cecelia open up and better approach people. It is wonderful to see.

Snow Day!

When you looked out your window this morning, did you see what I saw? It was snow! I was so excited to get outside and play that I could hardly contain myself. My foster parents couldn't get dressed fast enough!

When we finally got outside for our walk, I had so much fun! I loved running around in it, jumping it, eating it. It was great. Cecelia was having fun too, but not as much as me. My foster mom tried getting me to sit still so she could take pictures, but all I really wanted to do was play. I mean, don't you feel the same way? Who had time for pictures when there is so much fun to be had in the snow. Plus there is always time for pictures. The snow is only here for a day. But don't worry. I made sure to get as much out of the snow day as possible.

My Favorite Thing... my tennis ball

There are many things that I really enjoy: food, a playmate, a nice run. But nothing tops my tennis ball. It is the perfect toy. I can play with it on my own or with a friend. My foster parents even throw it around so I can chase it. It's so much fun.

When I am by myself, I love to bite on it then throw it up in the air so I can go chase it. I can do this for hours. It always makes my foster parents laugh. They say they have never seen a dog get so much enjoyment out of a tennis ball by throwing it around and chasing it. How is it possible for any dog not to enjoy this is what I want to know.
My foster mom took some video of me playing with my ball in the house. You should check it out. You'll want to play with a tennis ball to after you see how much fun it is.

Interesting Creatures....

My foster parents live near this nice wooded, wetland area. When we go walking, there is always plenty to investigate. We were out walking the other night, and this strange thing jumped up on my foot. It was a frog! He hopped a little down the sidewalk, and I followed right behind him sniffing. It was so weird but cool. And if that wasn't enough excitement for one walk, my foster mom found a small snake on the other side of the street and held it up for me to see. He was so cool! I love going on our walks! You never know what you are going to see!

Meet Brendan

Hello everyone. My name is Brendan. It is wonderful to meet you!
I am a one year old, small-size Bull Terrier mix. I am still a puppy with all that exciting puppy energy. I love to play! I'll play with you, my other dog friends, and toys. Some of my other traits are: affectionate, social, and funny. My new foster parents describe me as a big ball of energy. I also enjoying talking and taking long walks or jogs.

My new foster home has been a lot of fun. I have plenty of toys to play with (the tennis ball and squeaky toys are my favorite) and I have a playmate, Cecelia. She is older than me but keeps up with my puppy energy pretty well. My foster parents give me lots of treats, but only when I do a trick or am well behaved. So far I know sit, lay down, and stay. My foster parents are teaching my how to shake and not jump on people when playing (it's so hard sometimes because I get so excited!) I will keep trying though because I know I get treats when I am good :)
I am a wonderful boy in search of my forever home. If you are looking for a fun, energetic pup, I just might be the one for you. Please come visit me!
